Michael Spencer posts an angry post about Jesus and mega-churches and suburbia, at one point comparing their Jesus to Tony Robbins and Oprah. The only thing I disagree with is that it ain’t just in the ‘burbs, Michael. I see it in the city as well.

It is pretty rare these days that I call myself a Christian, prefering the title Follower of Jesus. Brian Jones does a great job of explaining why he prefers to be called a Disciple rather than Christian.

I mentioned the other day my ever-growing list of books in the to-be-read pile. I am working my way through them, but I am being held up by The Politics of Jesus by John Howard Yoder. It was recommended to me by several people, and now I can see why. It has been a long time since a book has made such an impact on me or caused me to question so much of what I “know” to be true. I am about 3/4 of the way through the book and already, I can tell this is one going in the permanent collection. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.!
